Meet the ministers

At Sharon Church we believe that everybody has a useful place within the church. There are no 'super-Christians'! Everyone can 'minister' to each other. In saying this, however, we have recognised a leader in Harry Letson. Harry is a minister with the Assemblies of God and his details are below!

Harry and Henny Letson

Harry Letson has been the Minister at Sharon Church, Moston, Manchester since 1983. Harry was born in Belfast in 1945. His mother was a mill worker and his father a coal-man. Harry came to know Christ at the age of sixteen in a Belfast City Mission Hall and was baptised in the Spirit and spoke in tongues shortly after conversion. Soon after this he was baptised in water. A year later he went to a Bible School and there met his wife, Henny, a Dutch girl. They were married in 1964 and have four children Pauline, Tanja, Yvonne and David. They are all married now and between them have six children.

Harry had a very basic primary education. Secondary schools were only beginning to emerge in Northern Ireland at the time. In fact, he got most of his education after getting married and was encouraged to do so by Henny. He now has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Humanities from the Open University [BA (Hons)] and a Master of Theology in [Applied Theology] from Spurgeon's College London [University of Wales] and in July 2005 he graduated with the degree Doctor of Philosophy, University of Wales, Bangor.

Harry's philosophy of ministry is based on Ezekiel 34: To search for the lost, bring back the strays, bind up the injured and strengthen the weak. His emphasis of ministry is teaching and this has taken him to a number of countries over the years - Scandinavia, Poland, Romania, Pakistan, Ireland, Malta and India.
