In a Nutshell, what do we believe?

As a Pentecostal Church within Assemblies of God  we stand  for  four things.

  • We are an evangelical church. As such our objective is to bring all people into a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and a relationship with Him. We want to encourage people to pray, read the Bible and meet other Christians for encouragement. We also believe that God would have us help those in need in our community and the world, in both a spriritual and practical way. Hence our mission statement; "Bringing God's love to Moston and beyond".
  • Enthusiasm. Everything we seek to do in  worship, evangelism, preaching and so on, is dominated by the sense of joy. We believe Christians can experience God in a real and personal way.
  • We believe the power of God which was displayed on the day of Pentecost [Recorded in the Bible in Acts 2] is still available for Christians today. We believe that God can still heal people, we believe in supernatural miracles through the power of the Holy Spirit and the gifts of the Spirit such as speaking in tongues.
  • Autonomy. A distinctive feature of Assemblies of God is our commitment to self-governing churches or indigenious assemblies with no headquarters to run or interfere with the affairs of the local church. We simply have central offices to co-ordinate administration. This means that we can relate to our community in a real way and are able to adapt to its needs rather than the bureaucracy of a headquarters in another part of the country or world!

What is the history of the Church?

The church started around the middle of the 1930's through a family which moved from another church in the south of Manchester to Moston. They began meeting in the home but soon grew too large for it. They moved to an upper room over a garage until the present building was built on Brendon Ave in 1947. It has remained there ever since. During that time we have sought to benefit the community. The Church is perhaps best known locally for its work amongst children and young people over the years.
